Over the last few years we have built up a varied portfolio of properties for the rental market. We currently have around 150 tenants and take pride in offering high standard accommodation supported by a quick, efficient, maintenance service.
We are proud to be members of the National Landlords Association Accreditation Scheme. We abide by the NLA’s code of standards.
We do not charge fees for checking references, or administration fees for setting up our tenancies. We want our tenants to stay with us for a long time, and accordingly work hard to keep our tenants happy. This is achieved by managing all properties in-house; by applying consistently high standards and by giving all tenants our personal attention.
Our flagship development is John Robert Gardens which comprises 33 apartments and 2 houses. This is a prestigious address, close to the City Centre and the Cumberland Infirmary. We offer both furnished and unfurnished accommodation and both long and short term tenancies. The penthouse apartments within John Robert Gardens are particularly sought after. All of our apartments come with excellent integrated appliances.
We have a range of properties to suit most budgets. Whilst we have Penthouse apartments of the highest quality, we also have small budget homes suitable for those just starting out in their first home. We also rent out commercial properties, including several shops on Botchergate.
We consider applications from people of all backgrounds. In some locations we will consider applications from tenants who rely on Housing Benefit. We take referrals from the Homeless Department at Carlisle City Council. We are happy to give people a chance to prove themselves to be good tenants. In 2010 we carried out major renovation work at John Johnston Court. This now provides 20 homes which we market at affordable rents.
In 2011 we took our first steps into the student property market. We renovated the abandoned flats at Stanley Hall and turned them into 26 luxurious rooms for students. The Hall was heavily oversubscribed last year. We are delighted that the vast majority of last year’s intake have decided to stay on in Stanley Hall. We take that as a sign that we must be doing something right.
In 2012 the former Globe Public House on Bridge Street was renovated as high quality accommodation for 8 students.
As a building company we employ our own tradesmen. This allows us to carry out the vast majority of maintenance and repair work in house. This speeds up the process and gives us greater control over the quality of any workmanship.
